Decree 366/2025, effective May 29, modifies key aspects of the Immigration Law and establishes new requirements for entry and stay in the country.
What changes?
To enter the country, foreigners must present a sworn declaration stating their purpose of travel and stating that they have health insurance.
At this time, regulations have not yet been issued regarding the implementation of this new requirement, so the sworn declaration is not being requested.
However, the provision is already in force stating that public hospitals will only treat foreigners who present medical insurance or prepay for the service, except in cases of emergency or if they have permanent residence in Argentina.
Therefore, if you are a foreigner, we recommend that you have medical or travel insurance before entering the country.
This Embassy will inform you of any official developments as soon as the National Directorate of Immigration issues regulations regarding this measure.
IMPORTANT: These requirements do not apply to Argentine citizens (even if they reside abroad) or to foreigners who are permanent residents in the country.
