REGRESAR

JUL 2020 | A SWEDISH CAPTAIN IN THE CONGRESS OF TUCUMÁN, THE OLDEST LINK BETWEEN SWEDEN AND ARGENTINA

Near or far from Argentina we are united by history. That 9th of July 1816, 29 deputies from the Tucumán Congress signed the Act of Independence at Casa de Tucumán.

On occasion of its celebration, we remember the Swedish captain Johan Adam Graaner, the only foreign witness in the Congress of Tucumán. Graaner had been commissioned by the Swedish prince Carl XIV Johan Bernadotte to explore Argentina and gather information and make contacts on political and economic issues in the Río de la Plata.
