Any Argentine or foreign citizen wishing to bring arms or ammunition into Argentina must obtain legal authorization for this purpose before arriving in Argentina.

This procedure can be carried out with a local notary public or in person at any Argentine Embassy or Consulate abroad.

Exception: it can only be conducted at an Argentine Embassy or Consulate when the entry of arms or ammunition is permanent (not temporary).

Procedure with notary public

1° | Fill in and sign before a notary public the legal authorization for the entry of arms or ammunition, which you can find here.

2° | Post the legal authorization to the Embassy for legalization. Include in the envelope another envelope and a note stating your postal address, telephone number and email address.

Upon reception of the document, the Embassy will contact you to instruct you to pay the fee for legalization: USD 60, which is paid in SEK at the exchange rate valid on the day of payment.

3° | Pay the fee and email scanned a copy of payment voucher to consulares_esuec@ mrecic.gov.ar. The Embassy will legalize the legal authorization and will post it to your post address.

Procedure at the Embassy | Temporary or permanent entry of arms or ammunition

Fee: amount in SEK equivalent to USD 60 at the exchange rate valid on the payment day. The exact amount in SEK is informed at the consular appointment.

Estimated duration of the consular appointment: maximum 30 minutes.

Procedure

1° | Request an appointment by email to consulares_esuec@mrecic.gov.ar informing your name and surname, DNI number (if you are Argentine) or passport (if not Argentine) and -if you wish- preference of days for the appointment.

2° | Wait for the appointment assignment by the Embassy, ​​which you will receive by email within 2 business days after the appointment request.

3° | Attend the appointment bringing the required documentation for the procedure.

Required documentation

1 | DNI, if you are an Argentine citizen, or passport, if you are a foreigner.

2 | Document issued by the Swedish authority that proves authorization to carry a weapon or ammunition that wishes to enter Argentina.
