AUG 2021 | TALK WITH CAMILA SOSA VILLADA AND DOLORES REYES

On Friday August 27 the talk “Violence, bodies and identity in the contemporary Argentine novel: Las malas, by Camila Sosa Villada and Cometierra, by Dolores Reyes” took place at the Cervantes Institute in Stockholm, coordinated by the writer Virginia Higa.

Two of the most outstanding authors of contemporary Argentina, Camila Sosa Villada and Dolores Reyes have just been translated into Swedish. The novel Las Malas, by Sosa Villada, portrays the reality of Camila, a young transvestite prostitute from the city of Córdoba. The book has been described as a fictional autobiography and has won several international awards. Dolores Reyes' first novel, Cometierra, combines magical realism with the police genre and illustrates the stark reality of violence against women and femicide. The novel is about a young woman who can visualize what happened to the missing people when she eats the dirt they walked on.

The event, organized by Prosak Förlag in collaboration with Word Förlag, the Argentine Embassy and the Cervantes Institute, was well attended by the public who, at the end, tasted wines from the Domaine Bousquet winery.
