ARGENTINA ELECTED AS A MEMBER OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL

The Argentine Embassy to the Kingdom of Sweden is pleased to inform you that Argentina was elected as a member of the Human Rights Council, period 2022-2024, obtaining a total of 175 votes.

The Human Rights Council is the main permanent body on the subject at the universal level and is based in Geneva. It is made up of 47 members, elected directly and universally, by secret ballot, by the members of the General Assembly.

The Latin American and Caribbean group had to renew 3 members for that period. Honduras and Paraguay were also elected. This election reaffirms Argentina's commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights as a State policy, in order to achieve more just, inclusive, egalitarian and diverse societies.
